The Nursing Act: Responsive, Evolving, Transformative

To all nurses, partners in health, and members of the public who expressed an interest…

Thank You for Shaping the New Nursing Act

We are delighted to share that the public consultation on the new Nursing Act has officially come to a close; and what an incredible journey it has been!

Beginning in February, we connected with nurses, health partners, government, and members of the public through 21 presentations (6 virtual and 15 in-person town halls), face-to-face meetings, an open and anonymous survey, and numerous written submissions where thoughtful insights and improvements were received. Feedback was collected and divided into themes that was then shared with legal counsel, staff, and the Board of Directors for consideration.

The insights, reflections, and recommendations you shared have played a vital role in shaping the final draft of the Nursing Act that is now approved by the Board of Directors and submitted to the provincial government . As this process follows the legislative requirements, which we understand can take approximately twelve (12) months, we will continue to keep you updated as things moves forward.

This has truly been a collective effort. Your voices have helped ensure the new Act reflects the realities of nursing today and supports public protection through safe and competent nursing practice.

Thank you for your time, your passion, and your continued commitment to regulatory excellence in New Brunswick.

Sincerely,
Chad Doucet, President

Kate Sheppard, CEO & Registrar
